Q: I have heard of an injectable filler called Voluma that is supposed to last longer than other fillers on the market. Do you offer Voluma Treatments and how does this product differ from other fillers on the market?
A: DLK is proud to now offer Voluma, the newest product from the Allergan family of Injectables (Botox, Juvederm). What you have heard is correct, Voluma is a Hyaluronic Acid based soft-gel filler that lasts significantly longer than other fillers available. Voluma is most suited for treatment areas that warrant a more substantial amount of volume like the cheeks and chin area. Voluma can be used with other filler products (Juvederm, Restylane) and combined with Botox to offer completely customized treatments based on each patients skin care goals and needs. Q: My friend has been going to a spa for various facials and esthetic services and recently they introduced Photo Rejuvenation Facial treatments. I was thinking of trying this treatment to improve my photo-damage but not sure what different technologies are out there and what the difference is between them all.
A: DLK offers the Lumenis 1 technology for Photo Rejuvenation, the gold-standard in technology which is only available in facilities that are medically supervised. This treatment is commonly known as IPL (Intensed Pulse Light) Treatment or Foto Facials and although many spas have technology to offer this treatment, it may not be medical grade; therefore the results may not be as effective. In addition, an assessment with a Dermatologist is essential to ensure that the spots you have are benign and not skin cancer. You also want to make sure that the technician administering the treatment is a fully trained Medical Aestheticians (trained and experienced with laser technology) to ensure a safe and comfortable treatment.
Photo Rejuvenation helps with the overall improvement of the skin’s appearance. It will help even out skin tone, minimizes redness, facial veins, and brown spots to give skin an overall clearer appearance. To learn more about DLK's Photo Rejuvenation treatment please click here.
Q: I am 41 years old, active and eat well and yet I still find a few areas of my body (abdomen, and flanks) difficult to rid of a stubborn layer of fat. I have been doing some research online and it looks like there are a number of Ultrasound based treatments available. I have read about LipoSonix and UltraShape, can you tell me how they differ from one another?
A: There is no need to worry about your stubborn fat deposits. In recent years Ultrasound technology to lyse fat has dramatically improved in efficacy and comfort. UltraShape Body Contouring technology is superior to LipoSonix because:
-UltraShape uses proprietary real-time tracking and guidance system to ensure smooth treatments and results versus a manual operator-dependent technique
-UltraShape offers a comfortable treatment that does not require oral sedation and/or local anesthesia, while others do require this to minimize discomfort during treatment
-There is no downtime after an UltraShape treatment while other technologies’ possible side effects include bruising, swelling, and treatment area sensitivity
-UltraShape can treat the abdomen, flanks, thighs and Pseudo Gynecomastia in males.

Q: I am a male, in my 20s and I just started my first job that requires me to take part in sales and client meetings and lunches. More or less I am no longer sitting behind a desk; instead I am meeting and greeting people all day. My problem is that my palms have always been prone to sweating and every time I shake someone’s hand I feel as if they are aware of my sweating problem by the sensation and I am starting to really stress out about it, which seems to make it worse! Is there anything that can be done to keep my palms from getting the better of me and my career?
A: No need to sweat it, Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)is a very common condition that affects both men and women. It is estimated that approximately 15 percent of our population suffer from Hyperhidrosis and until recently there was really no treatment available for this condition. DLK’s Hyperhidrosis treatment reduces excessive sweating in multiple areas such as underarms, hands, back and feet. The procedure is very simple - a small volume of Botox is injected in the affected area, in your case in the palm and the Botox then works by blocking the chemical signal from the nerve to the sweat gland, stopping that area from sweating for an average of 6 to 7 months. This treatment has been clinically tested and proven to minimize sweating and subsequently this treatment can have a positive impact in your confidence, career and lifestyle. Recently Botox has introduced the “Botox Access Program” that works to seamlessly offer payment coverage from most insurance or health plans. Q: I am in my 50s, have a wonderful husband (who loves me just the way I am!), three wonderful kids and a job that I love, but keeps me busy to say the least. I am noticing that gravity, and mother time are slowly starting to take a toll on my skin laxity, especially on my face around the jaw line and cheeks and eyes. I am not interested in having surgery, nor could I justify the time away from work and the down time with being as busy and active as I am with my family. I have heard about a procedure called Thermage and have read about it online, is this the answer to my sagging saga?
A: Thermage is an excellent treatment for loose or sagging skin. Thermage uses radiofrequency to stimulate collagen production (a naturally occurring process that diminishes with age) and the best part is that the effects are gradual (takes up to 6 months for full effects, and lasts up to two years) and there is no down time involved, you walk in and walk out! DLK is proud to now offer the Thermage NXT platform which offers improved speed and improved overall effectiveness. To learn more about DLK’s Thermage treatment please click here.
