Fact or friction
Beauty by Malena Harbers
Nothing beats a glowing, polished complexion – and according to Toronto dermatologist Dr. Lisa Kellett, exfoliating twice a day is the key to achieving it. “It’s one of the cheapest and fastest ways to better-looking skin,” she says. No wonder Catherine Zeta-Jones reportedly sloughs off skin cells with a mix of honey and salt, and Eva Longoria Parker uses coffee to obtain a fresher face. “Ideally, look for rice bran or small beads in a gel base that is non-foaming,” suggests Dr. Kellett. Sensitive skin types should avoid over-exfoliating with rough grains, as it can irritate pre-existing skin conditions. Consider chemical ingredients like fruit enzymes instead, which work like mini Pac-Mans to eat up dead, complexion-dulling skin cells. |
