HOW TO GET GORGEOUS GLOWING SKIN

By Alison McGill

If you want your skin red-carpet ready, you’ve got to get on a serious skin regimen. We asked dermatologist Dr. Lisa Kellett of Toronto’s DLK on Avenue to share her wedding skin strategies.

What are great daily skincare basics every woman should be doing, and what’s an ideal routine pre-wedding?
“I have a few essentials: Daily SPF of 30 or greater, a topical vitamin A liquid at night, and a topical vitamin C liquid in the morning. This regimen should be followed each day and skin will look gorgeous — guaranteed. When preparing for your wedding, I recommend addressing any major skin concerns that won’t clear up overnight, things like acne, acne scarring, unwanted hair, tattoos, leg veins and brown spots.”

How far in advance should a bride start micro-managing her skin routine?
“Start as soon as possible but a minimum of six to eight months before the wedding day.”

What treatments do you recommend to get skin looking extra-fabulous?
“Treat skin tone, brown spots and spider veins with a series of treatments like ResurFx before the wedding. If you have frown lines and want to do Botox or some fillers, you should start around the same time—about two months before the big day.”

What should you not do in the days before your wedding?
“This is not the time to try a new product or treatment. I recommend starting a treatment like SilkPeel a few months before your wedding, then have one two days before so your skin looks fresh and makeup application is even. If you feel an acne papule coming, see a dermatologist immediately, as there are a number of options to treat this.”
