Under the direction and care of a board-certified gynaecologist, the procedures of the Feminine Rejuvenation Program will be performed with precision, safety and efficacy to treat the symptoms of Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM) and Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI). Ideally suited for peri and post-menopausal patients, this treatment will enhance sexual satisfaction and for can be used for the treatment of vulvovaginal atrophy, vaginal dryness and urinary incontinence.
These treatments tighten, rejuvenate and restore the vagina and surrounding muscles, correct vaginal thinning, dryness, inflammation, laxity, and looseness and vaginal atrophy. They also address hyper or hypopigmentation, deflation of external genitalia, and labial hypertrophy.
With age, the vagina and the surrounding tissue, known as the vulva, lose collagen and elastin similar to the aging of the skin on other parts of our face and body. Changes in hormone levels during and after menopause can lead to atrophy, or thinning, of vulvar and vaginal tissue, leading to skin laxity and wrinkling. Conditions like SUI (urinating with sneezing, laughing, or jumping) and vaginal dryness may become more problematic.
The treatments are performed using the Etherea-MX, an advanced, laser and light-based platform. The technology is integrated with a laser handpiece that incorporates medical gold standard for the treatment of SUI, vaginal dryness and rejuvenation. The laser stimulates collagen and increases local circulation and forms new blood vessels.
There are two separate components to vaginal rejuvenation: internal treatment and external treatment. Internal treatment targets the symptoms of SUI, vaginal lubrication, and vaginal tightness, while external treatment targets the aesthetic appearance of the outside of the vagina (vulva), decreases the size of the labia minora/majora, and improves lubrication of the vulva. Treatments will be based on your consultation.
The day of your appointment you will be asked to arrive shaved in the area of treatment. For your comfort, a topical anesthetic might be applied prior to your treatment. You might feel some heat with the laser but in general it is well tolerated.
Following treatment, the treatment area will feel warm and should be kept moisturized for the first several days. Avoid strenuous activity that would lead to excessive sweating and taking baths (shower instead) for the first 3-5 days, and avoid sexual activity for one week following treatment.
A series of 3 treatments approximately one month apart will be recommended to achieve optimal results. Clinical studies have shown improvements in SUI, a tighter vaginal canal, much improved vaginal lubrication, and a more youthful vaginal appearance.
