Laser Peel Treatment

DLK’s New Laser Peel offers improved results in less time.  This treatment uses a laser micro beam to treat thousands of pinpoint areas of your skin; and because only a fraction of the skin is directly treated with laser the healing time is quick and down time short.

DLK Laser Peel is able to treat a wide variety of skin conditions such as enlarged pores, texture, tightening of fine lines. The effect is an immediate tightening and lifting of the skin and underlying tissue which increases for up to 1 month. Unlike other lasers, DLK Laser Peel is useful for most skin types and tones.

  • Improved tone, texture and hydration;
  • Stimulates your own collagen for rejuvenated appearance;
  • Visible, progressive results;
  • Helps minimize appearance of pore size and fine lines.

Skin is made up of three distinct layers: a visible outer layer on the surface called the epidermis, a collagen-rich under layer beneath the surface called the dermis, and an inner layer beneath the dermis called the subcutaneous layer, also known as the fat layer that has a web of collagen fibers running through it.  The DLK Laser Peel uses laser energy to create thousands of microscopic channels in the skin, the zones of untreated skin invigorate the body’s natural healing process, treated areas stimulate production of new collagen and plump up the skin improving skin tone and texture. Proper skin care and instructions will be given during the treatment process.

Exclusion Criteria for Laser and Light Treatment:

You should not have laser or light treatment if you are pregnant, have an active infection or immunosuppressive disease, have a cold sore, or are using or have used a drug called Accutane in the previous 6 months.

Patients may require antiviral pills prior to the treatment.  This is a precaution as infection can interfere with wound healing. This prescription will be given to you by Dr. Kellett before the day of your treatment or can be called in to your pharmacy. When you arrive for your appointment on the day of treatment, your face will be cleaned and a topical freezing cream will be applied. The freezing cream takes approximately 30 minutes to take effect. During the treatment eye goggles are applied for eye protection. You might feel some burning with the laser but in general it is well tolerated.

Immediately after treatment the skin is red similar to bad sunburn, with a hot sensation.  It is best not to apply anything else including water to your skin for 24 hours.  Once your skin can tolerate water without initiating a burning feeling (approx. 24 hours) a gentle cleanser and moisturizer should be applied frequently after 24 hours.  Do not use any abrasive cleanser or brushes. For cleansing, water or a mild cleanser is used twice a day.  If skin is irritated or itchy at night, Bendryl will help. Sleep with head elevated on two pillows while resting to reduce swelling.

Make up may be worn approximately 24 hours after treatment. Sun avoidance and use of daily sunscreen with minimum SPF 30 is suggested after treatment.

Most patients experience clearer, smoother, brighter with improved hydration.  Skin improvement as a result of the production of new collagen and increased tightening and contouring effects continue over time.  DLK Laser Peel can be used in combination with other technologies.
