Fractionated Laser Resurfacing

Text size:

Available only in the offices of qualified physicians, fractionated laser effectively treats a wide variety of skin conditions such as wrinkles, skin laxity, photo damage and scars.

This treatment uses a laser micro beam to treat thousands of pinpoint areas of your skin resulting in a quick healing time. The effect is an immediate tightening and lifting of the skin and underlying tissue. Unlike other lasers, it is useful for all skin types and tones and works on your entire face: forehead, eyes, nasolabial folds, lip lines, chin and even the neck, chest and hands.

  • Improvements in tone, contour, and texture occurring naturally through the stimulation of your own collagen.
  • A single treatment can tighten your existing collagen and stimulates new collagen growth.
  • Results can last for years depending on your skin condition and aging process.

DLK’s fractionated laser uses energy to create thousands of microscopic channels in the skin and treated areas stimulate the production of new collagen, plumping up the skin and smoothing out wrinkles. During the treatment, there is a brief, heat sensation. Immediately following the procedure you will experience redness resembling a sunburn-like reaction.

Healing takes about 2-4 days and most patients can get back to work and apply makeup within 2-3 days after the treatment. This treatment is typically done in a series of 3-6 treatments, spaced out 4-6 weeks apart, depending on your needs.

To understand how this treatment works, it helps to know a little about how your skin works. The skin is made up of three distinct layers: a visible outer layer on the surface called the epidermis, a collagen-rich under layer beneath the surface called the dermis, and an inner layer beneath the dermis called the subcutaneous layer, also known as the fat layer that has a web of collagen fibers running through it. When the collagen in these three layers breaks down due to sun exposure, family heredity, or the normal aging process, your face begins to sag and wrinkle. Treatments that work on just the surface can’t do anything to restore the collagen in the dermis. This procedure tightens and renews your skin’s collagen, also improving tone and texture.

Your skin will be more sensitive to ultra-violet light after the procedure, so you must avoid direct sun contact until the skin is healed. Sun protection to avoid sun damage and premature aging of your skin should be used after treatment.

Clinical studies have shown smoother, firmer, tighter skin immediately after treatment.  Skin improvement as a result of the production of new collagen and increased tightening and contouring effects continue over time.
