The benefits of PRP at the treatment site are to stimulate the body’s own regeneration processes in areas such as the face and the scalp. The platelets contain growth factors that promote the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid. The way platelets close wounds and encourage healing also stimulates regeneration and cellular metabolism. PRP improves aging skin on the face, neck, décolletage and hands, reduces wrinkles and dark circles under the eyes, and minimizes the appearance of facial scars. PRP has also been clinically proven to treat alopecia (hair loss) in women and men. To learn more about DLK’s PRP Treatment for Hair Loss and Thinning Hair please click here.
BENEFITS:
THE TREATMENT:
DLK’s PRP Treatment occurs in a medically-supervised clinic after a proper consultation. During the consultation, your specific skin concerns and goals are addressed and a customized management plan is formulated. During the treatment, a medical practitioner draws a small amount of blood from your arm into a tube. The tube is then placed into a centrifuge which spins the blood at a very high speed, causing the platelets to separate. Once the separation is complete, the PRP can be injected into specific sites based patient’s individual needs.
THE SCIENCE OF SKIN:
Over time, skin quality changes – collagen and elastic fibers disintegrate and the skin become less supple and less elastic. Your blood contains platelets and plasma, which contain growth factors and proteins. Plasma helps your blood to clot while PRP is the substance that promotes healing. It also contains proteins that support cell growth.
Injecting PRP into tissues stimulates your body to grow new, healthy cells. Tissue growth factors are more concentrated in the PRP which can promote healing and stimulate collagen and hair growth.
PRE-TREATMENT:
It is recommended to discontinue aspirin, aspirin-like products, blood thinning medications and herbal supplements non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, St. John’s Wort, high doses of Vitamin E, and alcohol for one week before your treatment to minimize bruising and swelling.
POST-TREATMENT:
You will experience some mild redness and swelling around the treatment areas and your skin may feel more sensitive. As with any injectable treatment there is a risk of bruising. This usually subsides after a few days. Avoid applying make-up on your skin immediately after the treatment. After 24 hours, you may apply light make-up to cover any redness or bruising. Avoid excessive sun or extreme cold at least until any initial swelling/ redness resolves.
THE RESULTS:
A typical treatment program is made up of three initial treatment sessions 4 weeks apart for facial rejuvenation and 4-6 treatments 4 weeks apart for hair restoration. A maintenance treatment about every 6 months might be recommended for optimal results.
